Senior research scientist/visiting professor at Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University

Group Leader at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, Germany

Otto Mønsted Guest Professor, DTU Nanotech, Denmark

Research interests:

● Electronic structure calculations;

● Atomistic simulations of various bulk and nanosystems at empirical potential, tight-binding and density-functional theory levels;

● Interaction of energetic particles with nanosystems;

● Growth of graphene and related materials;

● Defects in carbon nanomaterials; effects of the irradiation on the mechanical and electronic properties of carbon nanomaterials;

● Inorganic two-dimensional materials;

● Magnetism in carbon systems doped with non-magnetic impurities such as nitrogen and hydrogen;

● Theory of scanning tunneling microscope (STM); simulation of STM images of surfaces with various atomic-scale defects
